Bandits Kidnap Seven People in Abuja Community – THISDAYLIVE

At least 30 people have been killed in a brutal raid by suspected bandits in Dutsin Dan Ajiya village, Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The attack occurred Thursday night when the gunmen reportedly blocked the village’s entry and exit points before unleashing terror on residents.

Eyewitnesses said the assailants arrived on motorbikes, fired sporadically, and attacked homes without hindrance for several hours. Many were reportedly wounded, while others were abducted. Officials confirmed that about 30 bodies were recovered by Friday morning, with several residents still unaccounted for.

Zamfara and other North-West states have long faced persistent insecurity from bandits who kill, maim, and kidnap for ransom despite ongoing government interventions. In the 2026 budget, the state government allocated N1 billion for the construction of cemeteries across its 14 local councils under the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Earlier in February, at least five residents of Kyaram community in Bukkuyyum Local Government Area were killed in a bandit ambush along a rural route from Maga Market. Similarly, in January 2025, four people in Gwargwaba village, Bungudu Local Government Area, were reportedly killed when armed attackers set homes on fire.

These repeated attacks have continued to spark outrage among residents and civil society groups, highlighting the enduring security challenges in the region.
