Rev Fr. Hilary Mgbodile, a principal at College of the Immaculate Conception (CIC), in Enugu State, is in the center of an assault allegation as he was accused of brutalizing a 14-year old student in his school for lying, Njenje Media news reports.
According to reports, the event occured on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at the school premises.
In the words of the victims’s sister:
“He was on his way to the school canteen when he saw two boys running towards him. He thought they were been chased by senior seminarians as they always do, so he joined them to run. Not knowing the boys were running from punishment from the principal of the school.”
“They were later called for running and he explained himself that he wasn’t part of the whole drama from the beginning which the boys also concurred to this but the principal released others and focused his anger on my brother for saying he wasn’t among them.”
“He embarrassed and humiliated him in the presence of the whole school. He asked him to take off his shirt and hold a Pilar while he flogged him mercilessly. Thereafter, he gave him punishments with hard labor. He also stopped him from going on break with the others. He’s only 14 and in SS2.”
