Former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo has publicly identified himself as an Islamist and a jihadist, linking his religious convictions to the name he now uses.
In a video that has gone viral, Dokubo explained, “I’m a Jihadist, my name is Mujahed, he who carries out Jihad, that is what it means in Arabic.” He described the name as a deliberate choice reflecting his personal and spiritual identity.
Dokubo stressed his commitment to Islam, saying, “Listen to me very well, I’m an Islamist, I’m a Muslim without apology and fear.”
Known for his outspoken views on national and Niger Delta affairs, Dokubo’s latest statements reinforce his alignment with his faith and the principles he embraces.
