A LAND GRABBER, AMINU YELWAS FINGERED IN KILLING A TEENAGER AND INJURING ANOTHER IN PLATEAU, 1st June, 2025
A Plateau village of Rachi in Bachi District of Riyom LGA has been plunged into a state of mourning arising from armed invasion of the residence of Mr. Balo Bot, an Internally Displaced Person at about 8:30pm of Rakweng on May 31, 2025, resulting to the brutal murder of Promise Bot, a younger brother of former while Mr. Daniel Danladi sustained bullet injuries and was rushed to the Hospital, where he is currently under medical attention.
Information sourced out, under anonymity, has it that Aminu Yelwa, a fulani land grabber “.. was asked to vacate Balo’s land situates at Rakweng, where the aboriginal went to cultivate the said land, but Aminu, welded with a pistol and machete, threatened and scared the landowne away. The matter was immediately reported to Mobile Police personnel stationed at GSS Ranchol…” said the source.
In response, the Mobile Police, on reaching to the residence of Aminu, discovered he had fled but his wife was found, taken for interrogation and later released to the suspect’s elder brother, Iliya Yelwa.
Aside Aminu’s refusal to allow Balo to takeover the grabbed land, the former took another violent step by way of armed attack on the residence of the latter, who was not at home as at the time of the incident, but ran home as a result of the gunfire, and found his younger brother in pool of blood.
Another source under anonymity recounts the extent of violent disposition and threatening utterances attributed to Mr. Aminu, who, before the gunfire, went and destroyed a part building of his elder brother, Iliy Yelwa which was said not only to have been reported to the security, but also cautioned the inhabitants of Rachi to be on red alert against Aminu’s planned action.
This, in summary, calls for deliberate action by authorities that be to declare a vacation order to all those occupying lands by way of force(land grabbers) otherwise all Government efforts toward guaranteeing the safety of life and property would be futile thereby paving way for anarchy with impunity.
