BREAKING: Governor Zulum Condemns Maiduguri Mosque Blast

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has strongly condemned the deadly explosion that struck a mosque in the Gamboru Market area of Maiduguri, Borno State, on Wednesday evening during Maghrib prayers.

According to Njenje Media News, the blast, suspected to be a suicide attack, occurred while Muslim faithful were gathered for evening prayers, sending shockwaves across the Gamboru Market community. Several casualties have been reported, while emergency responders are attending to the injured.

In a statement issued by his administration and obtained by Njenje Media News, Governor Zulum described the attack as “utterly condemnable, barbaric, and inhumane,” stressing that targeting a place of worship during a sacred moment of devotion represents a grave violation of human values and religious sanctity.

“Attacking a place of worship is a desecration of its sanctity at a time when Muslim faithful are performing acts of worship,” the governor stated.

Governor Zulum extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery o

f those injured in the explosion.

He also urged residents of Maiduguri and surrounding communities to remain calm but highly vigilant, especially in mosques, churches, markets, and other crowded public spaces.

The governor assured the public that security agencies have launched investigations to identify and apprehend those responsible, while security presence across the state has been significantly strengthened.

Njenje Media News reports that authorities are continuing rescue and assessment operations as the full scale of casualties and damage is being determined.
