The Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination (NINAS), Secretary, Mr Tony Nnadi has declared the Nigerian constitution obsolete, Njenje Media News reports.
Mr Nnadi, who made this known while appearing as a guest on a Virtual Interview program: “Addressing ‘The Dot In Circle’ In Buhari’s Interview, A Return To 1966?”, anchored by Maazi Tochukwu Ezeoke and Njenje Media TV, said the Buhari’s government and his people are doing everything to bring back the dead constitution that joined Nigeria together.
According to him, the Nigerian government was given 90 days to come to the discussion table after the lapse of the constitution Majeure but ignored and thus the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has become expired.
“The only thing they are hanging on to that very narrow corridor of being able to bring guns into the matter, otherwise the constitution that brings them to our space is already defeated, they are struggling, doing everything to try to bring life back to it, they thought they could go to the National Assembly to infuse life back to it but we told them at the late hour that the national assembly doesn’t have the mandate, that their mandate doesn’t include constitutional making, that has collapsed.”
According to Nnadi, Buhari himself knows the implication of this and this may be the reason why he was pleading with Nigerians in his democracy day broadcast to allow the constitutional amendment. He believes the nations ruling class are opting for a negotiated settlement instead.
“Did you notice that this morning, the main message that Buhari sent this morning is pleading with Nigerians to allow amendment because he had known in that memo he sent to the national assembly, he was explaining to them that it is a slippery slope they are being invited in to but there is nothing they can do, they can’t keep the situation as it is, because the constitution that brings us together has been defeated by the actions we took and they only have to come down from their high horse so that they can have something that can be called a negotiated settlement? “
He further claimed the Southern Governors are undecided and still standing somewhere in between but in the coming days, they would align with the reality on the ground.
“We took 120 days, this kind of a meeting is where we can report certain things, we took 120 days from 17th of April to complete the consultations with the people, having given the government 90 days and instead of coming to that discussion, they rushed to the National Assembly to beat us through the backdoor, which has failed.
“The governors, instead of coming from, leading us, in taking back our sovereignty, they went to Asaba to make a half declaration, by what weapons are you going to enforce that ban on open grazing if you don’t come to take back your rights to own your sovereignty. Now the governors are sitting in the middle but the owners of the sovereignty, the people and the diplomatic, international community that would have to separate whatever it becomes in form of a fight, of us in three tranches of action, sensitization, which has been far done, mobilization which is happening in Yoruba space now and the enforcement. In the second half of this 120 days that would begin from the 17th of June, matters would go to enforcement, they are going to find out the constitution that brought us together is dead and guns would be useless in the matter because the world powers that have been consulted fully, we have told them that guns would not feature in this discussion”
The NINAS secretary further declared that the federating units of Nigeria will cease to function as the process of bringing down the constitution has begun.
“If they refused to come down from that high horse, we are closer to completing the action we started that would take down that constitution and bring them forcefully from that high horse because if the constitution collapses, the majority, those who they would have been calling to a meeting of how we continue are more interested, I am sorry, Yoruba of the streets everywhere, from Washington, down to the streets to Ibadan, down to Akure today. Those people are no longer willing to remain in the union of master and servant, in the union of death, in the union of attrition that Nigeria has become and so that constitution that brings everybody, that came to kill them in their space all these while is what has been defeated.”
“We are ahead of them, that constitution is gone; we only need to do what we need to do to take down that constitution and go to referendum, and everybody will decide what they do with their referendum.” He added
