In a rare and unusual circumstance, the presidency did not release any pictures or videos of President Bola Tinubu’s return trip to Nigeria after two weeks abroad. This has sparked reactions and speculations among Nigerians.
Since Tinubu took office a year ago, his aides and presidency officials have consistently released pictures and videos of his arrival and departure from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Nigeria’s capital city. However, Tinubu’s return on Wednesday was only announced in a news flash by NTA without any accompanying visuals.
The lack of visuals has led to speculations about the president’s whereabouts after his official trips to the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia. Two credible sources have independently told Daily Trust that the president proceeded to London from Riyadh, but the presidency has not confirmed this.
Nigerians have taken to social media to express their curiosity and demand for visuals, with some wondering if the president is hiding something. The unusual silence from the presidency has only added fuel to the speculations.
Meanwhile, Vice-President Kashim Shettima’s planned trip to the US was abruptly cancelled due to a “technical fault” with the presidential jet, sparking further controversy.
The presidency’s unusual silence and lack of transparency have raised eyebrows, and Nigerians are eagerly waiting for clarification on the president’s return trip and his whereabouts.
