The Coalition for Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) is devastated by the mass abduction of over 300 students and 12 teachers from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Niger State. An additional 88 students were captured while trying to escape. The victims, aged 10 to 18 years, now face unimaginable danger.
This horrifying attack is the largest school kidnapping in Nigeria’s history, eclipsing the 2014 Chibok girls abduction and prior mass kidnappings. It is a stark reminder of the rising threats to children, families, and communities across the nation.
COPDEM demands immediate and decisive action from the Nigerian government, security forces, and local authorities to secure the safe return of all victims. Delay is unacceptable — the lives of innocent children are at stake.
