Lagos, Nigeria — Caltop Publications Nigeria Limited has announced the official public presentation and launch of three new books by renowned journalist, public intellectual, and former Presidential Adviser, Reuben Abati.

The event is set to hold on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) in Victoria Island, Lagos. The newly released titles are:

  • Portraits: People, Politics and Society
  • A Love Letter & Other Stories
  • How Goodluck Jonathan Became President

Each work showcases Abati’s signature eloquence and sharp analysis, weaving together political commentary, social critique, and creative storytelling. The books collectively provide critical insights into Nigeria’s political history, governance, and societal transformation.

Ayo Arowosegbe, Managing Director of Caltop Publications, described the publications as “compelling, insightful, and relevant for our times,” adding that they will serve as essential references for policymakers, media professionals, academics, students, and the general public.

The high-profile book launch is expected to draw dignitaries from government, academia, the media, and the literary community, honoring Abati’s remarkable contributions to journalism and public discourse.

The event also coincides with Abati’s 60th birthday, marking a milestone in the career of a distinguished media figure who has remained committed to national development.

A seasoned journalist, Abati previously served as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Goodluck Jonathan and as Chairman of the Editorial Board of The Guardian newspapers. He began his career as a lecturer at Olabisi Onabanjo University and has long been a respected voice on politics, economy, society, and the arts.

Between 2000 and 2011, Abati co-presented the iconic TV discussion programme Patito’s Gang, founded by Pat Utomi. He also served on the Governing Council of Olabisi Onabanjo University and the Board of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund.

He currently co-anchors The Morning Show on Arise News, hosts Thisday Live every Sunday, and presents City Talks with Reuben Abati on City 101.5 FM every Saturday.
