The Association of Ebira Witchcraft, led by Her Majesty Inya Oyarazi Kudi Attah, has submitted a set of demands with a deadline to Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.
In a letter on Saturday, the association stated that the demands represent the people of Kogi Central Senatorial District, while chapters in other districts are preparing to present their own requests. They called on Governor Ododo and his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, to provide basic water infrastructure, stressing that clean and reliable water remains a luxury in Ebira communities. “Water is not a political gift; it is a basic human right. We demand immediate intervention through boreholes, water schemes, and sustainable infrastructure,” the letter read.
The group also urged the rehabilitation of schools in Kogi Central, noting that the district reportedly has fewer than 47 functional primary and secondary schools, many in poor condition. They demanded full renovation of existing schools, including furniture, learning materials, and qualified teachers, highlighting that education is essential for community development.
Additionally, the association called for the construction of an ultra-modern motor garage in Okene, citing that the current infrastructure does not meet the area’s population, economic significance, or modern transport and safety standards. “We demand the rebuilding of an ultra-modern motor garage in Okene to boost commerce, safety, and urban dignity,” the statement read.
While recognising the importance of digital education, the association stressed that an e-library alone is inadequate if basic infrastructure such as water and functional schools is lacking.
