Eight people were killed on Monday after terrorists detonated an improvised explosive device along Luma Road in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
The attackers also destroyed a key bridge linking the Luma, Babana, and Agwara communities, a major route used by residents heading to the Babana border market held every Monday.
Sources said multiple explosions occurred in different locations in the early hours of the day. One resident reported that the bridge was blown up around 5 a.m., cutting off access between communities and disrupting movement to the market.
The source added that explosives were also detonated between Rafingiwa and Babana, as well as between Woro and Kaiama, forcing many residents to flee.
Chairman of Borgu Local Government, Alhaji Mohammed Nasir Abdullahi, confirmed the incident, stating that officials had been deployed to assess the scale of the damage.
