The Nigeria Police Force has summoned Tammy Wenike Danagogo, former Secretary to the Rivers State Government and ally of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, for questioning over a leaked phone conversation allegedly linked to a plan targeting Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
According to sources, the call, intercepted by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), involved Danagogo and Dr. Tombari Joseph Gbeneol, a medical doctor and founder of Life Forte Chapel Church in Port Harcourt. In the recording, the pair allegedly discussed engaging foreign nationals to carry out an assassination plot and reportedly considered approaching Governor Fubara for funding to execute the plan.
A senior security official described the conversation as a “grave national security threat,” prompting immediate police action. An invitation letter dated January 9, issued by the Commissioner of Police for the IRT, directed Danagogo to appear in person at the IRT complex in Guzape, Abuja, on Thursday, January 15, at 10 a.m. He is to report to CSP Hillary Ugwuanyi and his team upon arrival.
The police emphasized that the summons is a fact-finding exercise in line with Section 53(2)(c) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, and is intended to ensure justice and fairness. The letter did not explicitly mention Wike or the content of the conversation, but sources told SaharaReporters that the investigation is tied to the viral audio, which has heightened political tensions in Rivers State.
Danagogo, who served as SSG during periods of political unrest in the state, now faces scrutiny amid ongoing concerns over security and alleged plots against public officials. Authorities are expected to use the interview to clarify the circumstances surrounding the recording and assess any potential threats.
