The Irigwe Youth Movement, through its National Publicity Secretary, Joseph Chudu Yonkpa, issued a heartbreaking statement expressing despair and outrage:

“We have never gotten it this bad with the killings of these 51 persons in our land. All our cries for help have seemingly fallen on deaf ears. Over 100 of our people have been killed since December 2024, and not a single arrest has been made. This is impunity at its peak.”

Mr. Yonkpa called on the Nigerian Government, National Defense Headquarters, NEMA, PLASEMA, NGOs, and well-meaning Nigerians to respond urgently and decisively:

“We demand an independent investigation committee to be set up by the military authorities to unearth the truth, apprehend the perpetrators and their sponsors, and ensure justice is served. We cannot continue like this—our people are being exterminated.”

The Irigwe Youth Movement is also appealing for relief aid, as hundreds have been rendered homeless and without livelihoods. The statement concluded with a solemn prayer for the repose of the dead and a pledge to continue to seek justice through lawful means.

So far, there has been no official response from the Plateau State Government or the Federal Ministry of Defense as of press time.

This incident once again raises critical questions about ethno-religious violence, rural insecurity, and state response capacity in Nigeria’s volatile North-Central region.
