By Uche Nworah Ph.D
Friends, associates and family members of Chief Olisa Metuh, former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have concluded plans for a series of charity activities to celebrate him as he turns 60.
Metuh, who marks his 60th birthday on Friday, 28 November 2025, is widely recognized as an accomplished family man, lawyer, businessman, politician and philanthropist.
Giving insight into the planned event, Barr. Eric Kelechi Igwe, former Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State and a member of the board of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), said that Metuh remains deeply grateful to God for the testimonies in his life. He is dedicating his 60 birthday to glorifying God by touching lives.
“He is a spinal injury survivor. That, and many other experiences, have strengthened his faith in God. He asked that his 60th birthday not be marked with newspaper adverts. I am happy that his friends, family and associates have chosen to provide succour to the downtrodden in his honour,” Igwe said.
Former Senate President and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim—Chairman of the Committee of Friends for Olisa Metuh at 60—described Metuh as a patriotic Nigerian whose life has been anchored on service.
“Olisa Metuh has served God and humanity throughout his career. He is loved by many, which is why his friends, family and associates have come together to celebrate him and raise funds for this charity outreach in his honour,” Anyim stated.
Former Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, said the activities are designed to meaningfully impact the lives of beneficiaries. “There is no life more meaningful than one dedicated to service. We thank God for the life of our friend and brother, Chief Olisa Metuh, and we wish him continued good health,” he said.
Senator Tony Nwoye, representing Anambra North, described Metuh as a leader of integrity. “Chief Metuh’s life is a testimony of God’s blessing. He is a good man, and I am proud of him and all he has accomplished at 60,” he said.
PDP chieftain, Chief Bode George, described Metuh as a detribalized Nigerian whose leadership qualities should be emulated. “I consider him a strong ally who used his position in the PDP to build bridges. I join his friends, associates and family in wishing him a happy 60th birthday,” he said.
Former Governor of Kaduna State and former National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, also extended his goodwill. “We will be there to rejoice with him and thank Allah for what He has done in Chief Metuh’s life,” he said.
A member of the Committee of Friends, Chief Okey Ezenwa, outlined the programme for the charity outreach.
