Mohammad Raad, head of the parliamentary faction of Hezbollah, was reportedly killed during precision strikes carried out by the Israel Defense Forces on targets in Lebanon, according to Al Hadath on Monday. The strikes came after Hezbollah launched multiple projectiles toward northern Israel overnight.
The IDF confirmed that it struck senior Hezbollah operatives in Beirut and a central figure in southern Lebanon but did not release any names.
IDF Northern Command Chief MG Rafi Milo said Hezbollah chose alignment with the Iran government over Lebanon’s stability and initiated attacks on Israeli civilians, prompting the retaliation. He warned that the group would face severe consequences.
Milo reaffirmed the military’s commitment to the safety of residents in Israel’s north, saying forces are deployed along the border and civilians will not be evacuated for now. He added that the IDF launched a planned wave of strikes in Beirut and southern Lebanon targeting senior operatives, command centres and infrastructure, and is assisting in evacuating civilians in southern Lebanon ahead of further operations.
