The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has refuted reports that former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, suffered a nosebleed while in its custody.
The denial followed claims by El-Rufai’s spokesman, Muyiwa Adekeye, who said the former governor faced a health issue during detention. ICPC spokesperson Okor Odey dismissed the report on Tuesday, stating, “The allegation that he bled from his nose yesterday while in ICPC custody is not true.”
El-Rufai has been held by the ICPC since February 18, after spending two nights in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Adekeye had also alleged that El-Rufai’s legal team had not been presented with any remand order authorising detention beyond 48 hours without charge and claimed that his family faced difficulties visiting him.
