The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Tuesday paid a working visit to Borno State following a recent bomb explosion that left several people injured.
During the visit, he met with victims receiving treatment and expressed sympathy over the incident. He was received by the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Usman Umar Kadafur, who congratulated him on his appointment and praised his swift response, noting that his early arrival reflected seriousness and concern for the situation.
The deputy governor described the visit as encouraging for residents and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to working closely with security agencies to restore peace.
Earlier, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Nazir Abdulmajeed, welcomed the IGP and commiserated with victims.
As part of his visit, the IGP inspected the scene of the explosion at Monday Market and also visited the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital where victims are being treated. He later held strategic meetings with senior officers to review and strengthen ongoing security operations.
Addressing personnel of the Borno State Police Command, the IGP urged increased vigilance, improved intelligence gathering, and proactive policing. He assured residents of continued efforts to protect lives and property, while also pledging better support and resources for officers to enhance operational effectiveness.

The visit comes amid renewed efforts to strengthen security across the North East.
