October 10 court ruling: IPOB alleged plot to condition minds of international community

PRESS RELEASE

DATE: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2025

ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT ON MAZI NNAMDI KANU INSIDE DSS FACILITY—IPOB CONDEMNS THIS DESPERATE PLOT

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)

under the supreme command of our great leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, strongly condemns the shocking and criminal assault on his person by a Department of State Services (DSS) operative upon his return from court on Friday, October 24, 2025. This barbaric attack constitutes nothing short of an assassination attempt against the leader of a peaceful, lawful, and globally recognized self-determination movement.

We are reliably informed that one of the DSS officers who escorted him to court physically attacked and attempted to strangle him within the confines of the DSS facility. This latest attempt comes amid a series of covert efforts to slowly eliminate our leader through poison-induced organ failure, a sinister strategy that has failed to break his spirit or silence his voice of truth.

It is now evident that what the Nigerian state could not achieve through unlawful rendition, torture, starvation, and prolonged solitary confinement, they are attempting to accomplish through direct physical violence. This is a clear continuation of the State’s policy of extermination targeted at Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and, by extension, the entire Biafran people.

A JUDGE WITHOUT CONSCIENCE AND A SYSTEM WITHOUT LAW

We are deeply troubled that Justice James Omotosho, who presides over our leader’s current case, appears indifferent to these inhuman conditions and physical assaults. How can a court of law look away while the accused person is being brutalized by the same security agents prosecuting him? How can a judge in a constitutional democracy condone a situation where the prosecutor, jailer, and torturer are one and the same body?

Is Nigeria the only country where a secret police (DSS)—an agency with a notorious record of human rights abuses—serves simultaneously as the detaining authority and the prosecuting witness? No sane legal system allows such an arrangement. Even in authoritarian regimes, this level of judicial compromise and moral decay is rare. What textbooks do Nigerian judges read that justify this travesty of justice?

We recall that it was the same DSS that invaded Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s home in 2017, killing dozens, and later kidnapped him in Kenya in 2021 in a brazen act of international criminality. It is the same DSS that has refused to obey the Court of Appeal judgment which discharged and acquitted him in October 2022. It is also the same DSS that now records and monitors every conversation he has with his lawyers.

Yet, the Nigerian judiciary pretends that this does not violate every known principle of fair hearing, impartiality, and the rule of law. This is judicial hypocrisy of the highest order.

WE WARN THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT AND THE TINUBU REGIME

The IPOB leadership hereby places the United Kingdom Government on notice. As the colonial architects and de facto owners of Nigeria, Britain bears moral and political responsibility for the safety and life of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, a British citizen unlawfully detained by their creation.

Let the UK Government, the international community, and all men of conscience take note: if anything happens to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Nigeria will never know peace again. The consequences will reverberate beyond imagination, and the British Government will not be absolved.

We hold President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration fully responsible for this fresh assassination attempt. His government must immediately halt this descent into barbarism and order a transparent judicial investigation into this assault. The DSS officers involved must be sanctioned, prosecuted, and dismissed without delay.

OUR DEMAND IS CLEAR

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu must be immediately transferred from the DSS dungeon to a neutral and lawful correctional facility such as Kuje Prison. No accused person should be kept in the custody of his prosecutors. This is anathema to every principle of justice and humanity.

We urge the international community, the African Union, the United Nations, the Commonwealth, and all global human rights organizations to rise in defense of justice before Nigeria pushes itself into irreversible anarchy.

The Indigenous People of Biafra will not be silenced, intimidated, or provoked into violence. But let the world know this: we will not watch in silence while our leader is assassinated in cold blood.
