The Kogi State Government has announced a restriction on vehicular movement from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024. According to Kingsley Femi Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, this measure is intended to ensure a smooth council poll and to guarantee the security of voters and citizens.

The Kaduna State Government has also announced a restriction on movement ahead of the chairmanship and councillorship elections scheduled for Saturday, October 19. Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, made this announcement, emphasizing the importance of security during the elections for the 23 local government councils.

The Oyo State All Progressives Congress (APC) has reported the loss of approximately 27 former Local Government Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, and councillors since 2019. Prince Ayodeji Abass-Alesinloye, the former state chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, shared this information during a gathering of Forum 68, which includes former Executive Chairmen of Local Government.
