Former Governor of Kano and NNPP national leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, told supporters at his residence that it would have been better if Yusuf had joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), according to a video shared by his media aide, Saifullahi Hassan.
Kwankwaso accused Yusuf of handing the NNPP’s mandate to opponents instead of keeping it within the party. He reflected on the 2019 Kano governorship election, which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) initially declared inconclusive, recalling the struggles they endured during the legal battles that followed.
“It would have been better if he chose the ADC, something new, rather than giving the mandate to our enemies,” he said.
He also shared an encounter with former Senate President Pius Anyim, noting that Anyim seemed to have forgotten how, in 2019, Kwankwaso personally took him to meet every Supreme Court judge in Nigeria, visiting their homes with the governor to plead their case.
