Operatives of the Ogun State Community Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) have arrested a 27-year-old man, Emmanuel Awahnse, for allegedly stealing three goats in Ipokia Local Council.

Awahnse was apprehended at a church during the naming ceremony of his child. The Corps Commander, Dr Soji Ganzallo, confirmed the arrest in a weekend statement issued in Abeokuta through the Director of Information, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi.

According to Ganzallo, the suspect was first spotted on February 6, 2026, around 5:00 a.m., by operatives of the Ifonyintedo Division during a routine patrol along the Madoga–Ita-Ege road. Awahnse and an accomplice were riding a motorcycle and carrying a black bag. On seeing the operatives, they fled, abandoning the bike and the bag, which contained three goats.

Awahnse, also known as Ariwo Oja and a native of Odoforo, Ipokia, was later arrested on February 19 around 1:30 p.m. He reportedly confessed that he and his accomplice, Ketonsu, also known as Ijagun, stole the animals at Ifonyintedo.

The suspect and the recovered goats have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Idiroko Division for further investigation and prosecution.
