In a significant political development, Hon. (Chief) Charles Orie, the Managing Director/CEO of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC), has officially resigned from his position. In a letter addressed to His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Executive Governor of Imo State, Orie expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve under Governor Uzodimma’s leadership since October 2020.

Orie highlighted the Governor’s “visionary guidance, unwavering commitment to excellence, and unparalleled dedication to the welfare of the people of Imo State” as key factors that have inspired him throughout his tenure. He noted the groundbreaking achievements of the 3R Government—Recovery, Reconstruction, and Rehabilitation—under Uzodimma’s leadership, which have made a lasting impact on the state’s development.
Reflecting on his time with ISOPADEC, Orie expressed pride in contributing to the administration’s successes, particularly in enhancing the visibility and awareness of its achievements. He praised Governor Uzodimma’s leadership qualities, including his wisdom, integrity, and empathy, which have, according to Orie, set a benchmark for effective governance.
Orie’s resignation is not linked to any disagreement or friction within the administration. Instead, he cited personal and family considerations as the primary reasons for his decision, as he prepares to pursue his political aspirations in the 2027 elections. Despite stepping down from his official role, Orie reaffirmed his commitment to the ideals and vision of the 3R Government and the All Progressive Congress (APC), pledging to continue supporting the administration’s objectives within his community and beyond.
Governor Uzodimma has yet to make an official statement regarding Orie’s resignation, and the next steps for filling the leadership role at ISOPADEC remain to be seen. Orie’s departure marks a significant moment in the lead-up to the 2027 elections, as political figures in Imo State begin to position themselves for future roles.
