Fresh facts have emerged on the unfortunate death of Ifeanyi Adeleke, the son of music superstar, David Adeleke more known as Davido.
The world was thrown into deep mourning when news filtered in that Ifeanyi, who just clocked 3 on October 20, is dead. It started as a rumor until it began more traction with each passing minute: from disbelief to final reality.
The 3-year-old Ifeanyi was reported to have drowned in the swimming pool in Davido’s Banana Island home on Monday evening.
The Lagos State Police Command later put to rest the insinuations over the death by confirming it did happen. Lagos Police PRO, SP Benjamin Hundeyin while speaking on the unfortunate incident said eight of Davido’s domestic staff have been brought in for questioning over the drowning incident.
Hundeyin while speaking with Linda Ikeji’s Blog, averred that as of this morning that the affected domestic staff who were invited for questioning will be investigated, with those not found culpable in the incident to be released after and those found culpable to remain in police custody for further investigation.
”They were brought in questioning, not arrest. Anybody found not culpable will be released immediately while those found culpable will remain with us to further our investigation”, he said.
A source close to the bereaved while narrating how the incident happened said Ifeanyi’s Nanny was with him before the Chef came to join them. Upon seeing that she had company, she excused herself to receive a call, thinking the chef was helping to monitor. Upon finishing her call, she couldn’t find Ifeanyi when she returned and erroneously thought the little boy was with the Chef but the Chef disagreed and retorted that he left Ifeanyi with her.
After the argument, both the Chef at this point got to the realization that Ifeanyi was missing and launched a frantic search for him for about 20 minutes until a security guard who joined in the search spotted Ifeanyi in the private pool at Davido’s house.
It was gathered that no one could actually explain how he got to the pool ad he was long in the water.
He was rushed to the Hospital where e was confirmed dead on arrival. His lifeless body had since been taken to the morgue with indications that an autopsy will be conducted to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Ifeanyi’s parents, Davido and Chioma were said to have traveled to Ibadan for a function and had left Ifeanyi in the care of the nanny and other domestic staff for the trip.
They returned from their trip to hear the devastating news, with the source further saying Davido was livid upon hearing the sad news, making him literally tear his clothes, wanting to run into the streets before he was held back. The source further said both Davido and Chioma were inconsolable.
Davido and Chioma had since been holed up in David’s father’s residence, where friends, staff, and colleagues have been barred from accessing them.
It would be recalled that a similar incident happened to another celebrity, Daniel Oyebanjo more known as Dbanj years back. His son was reported to have drowned in his private swimming pool at his Ikoyi residence.
Just like Davido, Dbanj was not around when the incident happened as he was attending the BET awards in Los Angeles. He was flying back home to see his wife, Lineo Kilgrow when he learned of the incident.
Dbanj and Lineo had gone to have two other kids after the unfortunate incident.
