Senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, has expressed strong confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, saying the country has yet to witness the full extent of his capabilities.

Daniel, a former governor of Ogun State, made the remarks on Wednesday in Abuja during the unveiling of four books commemorating his 70th birthday. The event at the Yar’Adua Centre drew notable figures, including former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.

Describing Tinubu as a pragmatic leader with intellectual depth, Daniel noted that several policies in Ogun State were inspired by the President’s governance approach. He added that Tinubu remains one of the most practical-minded leaders he has encountered, whose methods have influenced many in Nigerian politics.

Representing the President, Finance Minister Wale Edun praised Daniel as a trusted ally and highlighted his entrepreneurial achievements, including founding Kresta Laurel, a leading elevator installation and maintenance company in Nigeria. Edun noted that Daniel brought the same vision to governance in 2003, focusing on industrial growth, infrastructure, education, and public-private partnerships, including developing an agro-allied cargo airport and establishing Tai Solarin University of Education.

Addressing national concerns, Daniel spoke on misinformation, corruption, and declining ethical standards in public service. He proposed structural reforms, including potential amnesty for repatriating illicit funds abroad, and emphasized reviving ethical leadership grounded in “Omoluabi” values of integrity and accountability.

On security, he supported discussions on state policing, urging safeguards such as State Police Councils to prevent abuse of power.

The occasion also featured the presentation of four commemorative books: Daniel in the Lions’ Den, My March through the Courts, Path to Justice, and Otunba Gbenga Daniel in the Eyes of Time, celebrating his life, career, and contributions to Nigeria’s political and economic landscape.
