Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested 53 suspected criminals and extremist elements during coordinated operations in Plateau State, as efforts intensify to improve security in the region.

The arrests were made within 24 hours across Barkin Ladi and Jos North local government areas as part of ongoing military operations. Troops reportedly raided several criminal hideouts, including a suspected drug base, where items such as cannabis, mobile phones, and other materials were recovered.

In a separate raid, security operatives working with special units and the Department of State Services apprehended dozens of suspected members of the Sara Suka group and seized dangerous weapons.

The military also recovered stolen cattle and responded to related security threats in nearby states, reiterating its commitment to dismantling criminal networks and safeguarding civilians. The operation is part of broader efforts to address rising insecurity and sustain stability in parts of North-Central Nigeria.
