At the resumed hearing of the terrorism case against Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), all Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) representing him formally withdrew from the case.

During the proceedings, Kanu personally challenged the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court to continue his trial, arguing that the Court of Appeal had already discharged him in its earlier judgment.Image

However, the presiding judge, Justice James Omotosho, ruled that Kanu must proceed to open his defence. The judge stated that any jurisdictional objections or related matters could be raised before the Court of Appeal or addressed in Kanu’s final written address.

The case was subsequently adjourned to October 24, 2025, for the defendant to begin his defence. Kanu is expected to call 23 witnesses in support of his case.

Nnamdi Kanu is currently facing a seven-count charge related to terrorism.
