In an electrifying gathering at the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), community leaders, youth activists, and grassroots coordinators rallied behind Dr Moses Paul (popularly known as Dr Mo), endorsing him as their preferred candidate for the forthcoming AMAC Chairmanship elections. Among those who declared support were Mr Peter Obi, former presidential candidate and leader of the Obidient Movement; Dr Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement and respected political strategist; Chief Peter Ameh, frontline politician and elder statesman; and Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkarim, DG BigTENT, grassroots mobilizer and advocate for community development.
Dr Mo, visibly moved by the show of solidarity, began his remarks with heartfelt gratitude. “I want to say a big thank you to our National Coordinator, Dr Yunusa Tanko. Please put your hands together for him,” he said, drawing thunderous applause. He also recognised Chief Ameh, Elder Deacon Ken Pela, and Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkarim for their steadfast contributions to the struggle for good governance.
He stressed that the movement is not built for publicity but for service. “If what you’re doing is not for the flashlight, if your heart is right, the scripture says that if your ways please God, even your enemies will be at peace with you,” Dr Mo declared.
The convener praised unsung heroes such as grassroots defender Anika, who secured votes in the 2023 elections, and Dr. Qu, who has been fixing hospitals quietly without seeking recognition. “These are the real people doing the work. They’re not doing it for the cameras,” he said, as the audience roared in agreement.
Dr Mo emphasised the urgency of transforming AMAC into a model of progress. “It is a crime for any child to be out of school in AMAC. There’s too much money in the world to solve our problems without waiting for government,” he declared, citing the 62 underutilised primary healthcare centres in the council area.
Calling for unity and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections, he charged the crowd: “We don’t tire. We are ready to work again. AMAC, are you ready?” The hall erupted in chants of “Yes!”
The historic endorsement from Obi, Tanko, Ibrahim, Ameh, and the broader Obidient leadership signals a decisive moment for AMAC politics. The rally ended with renewed energy, a pledge of solidarity, and the conviction that the time for grassroots-driven leadership in AMAC has come.
