Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Celebrates Senator John Azuta Mbata at 66
Enugu, Nigeria — January 3, 2026: The National Executive Committee (NEC) of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has extended warm felicitations to the Distinguished President General, Senator Azuta Mbata, on the occasion of his 66th birthday.
In a goodwill message issued by the NEC, Ohanaeze described Senator Mbata as “a benevolent and visionary leader whose tenure has been marked by uncommon commitment, courage, and an inspiring demonstration of love for the Igbo nation.”
Since assuming office, Senator Mbata’s leadership has brought renewed purpose and confidence to the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation. Among his key achievements are the establishment of the Ohanaeze Professorial Endowment Chairs across the seven Igbo-speaking states to promote the study and preservation of the Igbo language and culture, and the re-establishment and empowerment of the Alaigbo Stabilisation Fund, designed to drive economic renaissance across the South-East.
Highlighting these milestones, the NEC recalled the rousing ovation accorded to Senator Mbata during the Imeobi Ohanaeze Meeting held at the International Conference Centre, Enugu, on December 23, 2025, an acknowledgement of his effective, people-centred leadership style.
The Deputy President General, Prince Okey Nwadinobi, commended Mbata’s unwavering dedication, stating, “Senator Azuta Mbata embodies purposeful leadership and selfless service. His passion for Alaigbo is not merely spoken but clearly reflected in bold actions that inspire unity, hope, and progress.”
As Senator Mbata marks this milestone age, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and the global Igbo community reaffirm their unflinching loyalty and support for his administration. The NEC wished him long life, wisdom, and renewed strength as he continues to steer the organisation toward greater heights.
