His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi visited the Medicine and Surgery students of Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, where he delivered an inspiring message about their future and the critical role they play in society.

Speaking to the students, Obi emphasized that medical professionals are the foundation of every functional healthcare system. He commended them for choosing such a noble path and encouraged them to remain focused and disciplined.

He reminded them that education remains a powerful catalyst for national development.

“Today, you are students. I come to you as a former governor and a presidential candidate. Tomorrow, I may be visiting your offices for guidance,” he said, noting that leadership may change, but greatness comes from service and expertise.

Peter Obi recalled his university days in 1982 when Jim Nwobodo was Governor of Anambra State and later became a governor himself, explaining how life’s journey can transform roles and responsibilities. He encouraged the students to believe in their future, saying:

“Greatness awaits you if you remain disciplined. The current struggles—school fees, upkeep, and other challenges—are all part of the path to success.”

He also shared his experiences meeting Nigerian medical professionals in the UK, highlighting how many of them are excelling globally. He assured the students that they too can become global citizens if they stay on the right path.

Obi stressed that Nigeria’s greatest need today is competent, committed, and compassionate people who will rebuild the nation, not those who misuse public funds for vote-buying and political conflicts.

“This is a great country. You have a role in shaping it. Be among the credible individuals who will restore integrity to public and professional service,” Peter Obi added.
