Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, has thrown his support behind Mrs. Justina Azuka, widow of the late Hon. Justice Azuka, who was killed by kidnappers.

Obi, in a statement on Wednesday, said Mrs. Azuka’s decision to contest the Onitsha North Constituency 1 seat in the Anambra State House of Assembly to complete her late husband’s remaining 13-month tenure reflects courage and a commitment to service despite her personal tragedy.

The former Anambra State governor described Mrs. Azuka — a Higher National Diploma graduate in Public Administration — as qualified, competent, and resilient. He noted that she is a young mother of three children aged seven, five, and three, and urged the public to rally behind her ahead of the August 16, 2025 election.

“Supporting her is not only an investment in competent representation but also a collective act of solidarity to help ease the pain and heavy burden of her loss,” Obi said.

He added that her candidacy represents the kind of compassionate and competent leadership Nigeria needs, stressing that electing her would send a strong message about caring for one another in difficult times while upholding justice.
