Mr Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and 2023 presidential candidate, attended the SMFest event in Owerri, where he mentored and addressed young Nigerians. Obi’s message to the youth emphasized resilience, flexibility, and the importance of embracing change as key traits for success in an increasingly challenging Nigeria.
Njenje Media News reports, Obi acknowledged the difficulties facing the country but pointed out that the passion and drive of the younger generation are a source of hope for older Nigerians. “Despite the current challenges, we find strength in the energy and vision of our young people,” Obi said.
He encouraged the youth not to give up on their ambitions, whether in business, skills development, education, or politics. “Life will throw obstacles your way, but stand firm. If necessary, step back, rethink your strategy, and evolve. Success comes to those who stay the course, even in tough times.”
Reflecting on the innovation and determination he observed at the event, Obi expressed confidence in the potential of young Nigerians to transform the country and make it globally competitive. “Seeing the innovation and determination of our young people gives me hope. I will continue to support that growth and believe in the change they’re driving,” he added.
Obi concluded his speech with an optimistic outlook for the future, asserting that the efforts of the younger generation will help usher in a new era for Nigeria. “A new Nigeria is emerging right before our eyes. Let’s keep at it. A new Nigeria is well within our reach—and very POssible,” Obi said.
