Nigerian troops, backed by air support, neutralised more than 60 Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters after successfully repelling an attempted assault on Malam Fatori in Borno State.

At least 63 bodies of the insurgents were recovered following the failed operation, according to security sources.

Troops of Sector 3, Operation Hadin Kai, alongside the Nigerian Air Force, responded to the early morning attack on Wednesday, as militants advanced on foot and deployed armed drones targeting the 68 Battalion.

The offensive, launched from the Duguri axis through the Bravo Company front, was met with strong resistance and coordinated air strikes.

Military sources said the joint response inflicted heavy losses on the attackers, halting their advance and forcing a retreat.

Subsequent clearance operations confirmed the scale of the casualties, with dozens of bodies found around Malam Fatori.

Air operations reportedly struck key تجمعات of the insurgents, weakening their capacity and dispersing the remaining fighters toward the Arege axis.
