The Nasarawa State Police Command has debunked reports circulating on social media and some news outlets claiming that kidnappers attacked St. Peter’s Academy in Rukubi, Doma Local Government Area of the State, and abducted two pupils.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the Command described the report as false. The police said the pupils mistook hunters carrying Dane guns for kidnappers, causing panic and the spread of a false report.
“The police responded promptly, deploying a team of operatives and military personnel to the scene. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the pupils were safe, and the school proprietor confirmed that the alarm was false.” part of the statement read.
The police urged the public to disregard the report and to always verify information before sharing it to avoid spreading misinformation. The Command assured that the area is being closely monitored to prevent any security breaches.
