Controversial Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has alleged that the Nigerian government is fully aware of the identities and locations of all terrorists operating within the country. Speaking in an interview with DRTV, Gumi said he does not negotiate with armed groups alone, but always alongside the police, military, and other security agencies.

Gumi also revealed that he is willing to support groups such as Boko Haram, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and bandits, provided they agree to lay down their arms and participate in roundtable discussions with the government. He emphasised that dialogue is the best path to peace, stating, “We are men of peace… all we don’t want is violence.”

The cleric criticised public mistrust of both the government and security measures, highlighting broader systemic issues in Nigeria. He pointed to poor infrastructure, unreliable electricity, weak healthcare, and substandard education as factors contributing to insecurity and urged the involvement of experts and intellectuals to propose practical solutions.

Gumi’s comments come amid ongoing concerns over terrorism and banditry in Nigeria, and his remarks have sparked debate about the government’s preparedness and willingness to address security threats. There has been no official response from the federal government regarding his claims.
