Valentine Ozigbo Strengthens Diaspora and Community Development Ties in China
Guangzhou, China – December 10, 2025 – Distinguished business leader and philanthropist Valentine Ozigbo continued his global community engagement efforts with a significant visit to the Association of Nigerian Community in China (ANC), underscoring the expanding role of the Nigerian diaspora in fostering cultural, social, and economic development.
Ozigbo, founder of the Valentine Chineto Ozigbo (VCO) Foundation and former President/Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, was warmly welcomed at the ANC headquarters in Guangzhou by the association’s president, Chief Stanley Chibuzo. The meeting, which both sides described as constructive and inspiring, focused on strengthening collaboration between Nigerians at home and abroad.
Widely circulated photographs from the visit show Ozigbo in traditional attire engaging with ANC executives and members. Group photos with Nigerian professionals, traders, and students highlighted the diversity and unity of the diaspora community. The setting, displaying Nigeria’s national symbols alongside ANC branding, emphasized themes of cultural pride, solidarity, and collective progress.
“This was a true Kairos moment—one that calls for unity, clarity, and courage,” Ozigbo wrote on X (formerly Twitter), commending Chief Chibuzo for his leadership within the growing Nigerian population in China, estimated at over 20,000.
Sources familiar with the discussions indicated that the meeting explored opportunities for deeper collaboration in areas such as youth empowerment, entrepreneurship support, cultural preservation, and diaspora-led initiatives that benefit Nigerian communities globally. The VCO Foundation’s longstanding focus on education, leadership development, and social upliftment served as a natural backdrop for the conversation.
The ANC, which represents Nigerians living across China’s major commercial and academic centers, plays a central role in supporting community welfare, cultural identity, and cross-border cooperation. Chief Chibuzo, known for his advocacy for Nigerian interests in Guangzhou, described the dialogue as “another step toward strengthening bonds that unite Nigerians worldwide.”
The meeting has sparked positive reactions online, with social media users praising the emphasis on unity, cross-cultural engagement, and global Nigerian solidarity. Some comments humorously referenced diaspora identity, reflecting the strong community spirit among Nigerians in China.
Ozigbo is expected to continue his international engagements, with upcoming interactions planned across Europe and North America. His message, often captured in the phrase #KaAnambraChawapu (“Let Anambra Progress”), is increasingly interpreted as a call for collective advancement beyond geographical boundaries.
