A woman identified as Madam Rita has reportedly died in Udu, Delta State, after a sequence of events that has stirred significant local discussion.
Accounts circulating online allege that she admitted to a prolonged extramarital relationship with her husband’s sales boy. She was said to have arranged and funded the hotel meetings where the encounters occurred.
According to these accounts, she later developed a severe, unexplained illness. Witnesses claim her condition worsened steadily until she became noticeably weak and emaciated. Several hospitals were said to have been unable to determine the cause of the illness or provide effective treatment.
The story further states that her family eventually took her to a traditional healer. The illness was then linked to what was described as ancestral retribution, supposedly triggered by the violation of cultural marital norms.
Within some traditional belief systems, adultery by a married woman is considered a grave transgression believed to attract harsh spiritual consequences. The circulating reports suggest that her sickness and eventual death were interpreted through that lens.
