The NextGenRise Initiative, a transformative program dedicated to uplifting disadvantaged young people, has launched an ambitious £60,000 crowdfunding campaign to enhance education, leadership, and access for students in Kenya and Ghana. By focusing on school infrastructure improvements, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education, and professional development, NextGenRise is fostering ambition, creativity, and self-determination among youth in underserved communities.
This year’s fundraising efforts will directly benefit students at Ruthimitu Mixed Secondary School and Gitiba Primary School in Nairobi, Kenya, as well as Twifu Hemang Secondary & Technical School in Ghana. The funds will support the construction of 16 toilets and a combined basketball/volleyball court for 1,300 students at Ruthimitu, a kitchen serving 400 students at Gitiba, and toilets plus a science lab at Twifu Hemang, where donated equipment currently lacks a dedicated space. These projects aim to improve hygiene, health, and learning environments for hundreds of children.
Building on last year’s successes—made possible by generous donors—NextGenRise renovated 8 boys’ toilets and 2 teachers’ toilets at Gitiba Primary School, benefiting 300 boys and 10 teachers. The initiative also provided books and sanitary towels across its partner organizations in Kenya and Ghana and sponsored 10 students for the 2024–2025 BEAMS Media Training course in Nairobi.
Beyond crowdfunding, NextGenRise is hosting exciting fundraising events, including a Silent Auction featuring exclusive travel prizes such as first-class United Airlines flights, luxury stays at the Karma Sanctum Hotel in Mayfair, London, and unforgettable safaris with Mlilo Safaris and Taita Wildlife Conservancy. The Kenya Shine Raffle offers prizes like limited-edition NextGenRise T-shirts, West End theatre tickets, signed football boots, and Easter hampers. For active supporters, a Walkathon in Windsor, England, on 3rd May, and a Hikeathon in Nairobi, Kenya, promise fun and fitness for a worthy cause.
In partnership with organizations like the Centre for Social & Sustainable Enterprise (CSSE), Open University, Don Bosco Youth Education Services (BEAMS), and Skyward Express, NextGenRise is delivering UK-accredited STEAM courses and media training with professional counseling support. These programs equip students with practical skills and open doors to new opportunities.
“We’re building a brighter future for resilient, ambitious young people,” said a NextGenRise spokesperson. “Your support can transform these students into future leaders and vital community contributors.”
