The government of Kano State has reduced political office holders’ salaries by 50 percent for the month of March, Njenje Media News reports.

The state commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, who disclosed this In a statement on Tuesday by the Kano state Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, the reduction was due to the shortfall in the revenue accruing to the state from the federation account.

According to him, the decision affected the Governor, Deputy Governor, and all public office holders in the state which included all Commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, and Special Assistants among others.

Garba added that at the local government level, the salary slash affected the chairmen, vice-chairmen, elected councilors, supervisory councilors, advisers, and secretaries of local governments.
