Peter Obi: Man who betrayed APGA, will betray Nigeria, says Onoh | The Guardian Nigeria News

Peter Obi, the Labour Party Presidential Candidate in the 2023 elections, has strongly condemned the recent senseless killings of harmless and defenseless villagers in Uzo Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu state. Obi, who has a personal connection to the area, expressed his deep pain and concern for the people of Uzo Uwani, who have been plagued by terror attacks for years.

“I have closely related with and remained supportive to the people of Uzo-Uwani, and it pains me to see them living in constant fear of terror and death,” Obi said. “We must not allow further spilling of the blood of innocent Nigerians under any guise. Enough must now be enough.”

Obi recalled his previous interventions in the area, including rebuilding a hostel at Mater Amabilis Secondary School in Adani, which was razed by fire in 2015, and attending the funeral of the victims of the 2016 Nimbo Community attack, alongside former Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

The latest attack has left the community in a state of mourning, and Obi has called on the government to take visible action to ensure the security of lives and property in Nigeria. He emphasized that the continued insecurity in Uzo Uwani, which is the main agricultural hub of Enugu state, will have far-reaching consequences on food production in the state.

“Security agencies should be proactive, especially as this area has become prone to these attacks, and take necessary actions to avert future occurrences,” Obi said. “My heart goes out to the people of Uzo-Uwani who lost their loved ones to this cruel attack, and indeed all the many victims of insecurity in our nation. May God Almighty grant eternal rest to the dead, grant quick recovery to the wounded, and heal our land bleeding profusely from insecurity. We shall conquer!”
