Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has approved the first phase of funding for the medical treatment of veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu, who is seeking financial assistance to undergo three life-saving surgeries estimated to cost ₦30 million.
The development was announced by members of the creative industry, who disclosed that the governor stepped in after an appeal for support for the actress’s healthcare.
In a statement, the group expressed gratitude to Governor Otti for approving the initial part of Nwosu’s medical bills while urging Nigerians to continue supporting the actress financially.
“His Excellency @alexottiofr have just stepped in on the health issues of our Nollywood legendary actress Mrs Ngozi Nwosu to approve the first part of our medical bills.
“While we sincerely appreciate His Excellency, we still appeal to kind-hearted Nigerians to please support her in any way possible you can.
“On behalf of the creative industry, we all thank you immensely, my leader.”
Nwosu, who hails from Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State, previously battled kidney and heart-related illnesses in 2012. At the time, Nigerians, alongside the Lagos State Government under former Governor Babatunde Fashola, contributed to her treatment and recovery.
The actress, renowned for her decades-long career in Nollywood, is once again appealing for public support as she prepares to undergo the surgeries. According to those close to her, the procedures are critical to saving her life.
