The All Progressives Congress has cleared Siminalayi Fubara and 29 other serving governors to participate in its governorship primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sources within the party told Vanguard that Fubara, alongside governors such as Hope Uzodimma and former Oyo State Secretary to the Government, Sarafadeen Alli, successfully passed the APC screening exercise.
According to insiders, about 30 APC governors have now been cleared as the party steps up preparations for the 2027 elections.
The development comes despite reports that a wave of petitions is delaying the release of the party’s final screening report. However, the APC had earlier indicated plans to publish the official list of cleared aspirants on Tuesday, May 13, in line with the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Findings also showed that the APC screened no fewer than 2,980 aspirants across different elective positions, including the presidential race, governorship seats, National Assembly positions, and state assemblies.
Fubara’s clearance is already being viewed as a major political development in Rivers State, especially following his prolonged political rift with former governor Nyesom Wike. His movement into the APC and subsequent clearance are expected to reshape political calculations in the state ahead of 2027.
Party insiders added that the leadership is carefully reviewing all pending petitions to ensure fairness and transparency before releasing the final comprehensive list of cleared aspirants.
