Eight farmers have killed by Bandits in Damaga village in Maradun local government area of Zamfara state while clearing their farmlands ahead of this year’s farming season, Njenje Media News reports.
According to reports, many of the farmers escaped with various degrees of gunshot wounds sustained while running for their lives when the bandits invaded the farmlands in the early hours of Saturday on motorcycles and began shooting from different directions.
The locals say, Bandits had earlier warned that they would not allow them to farm this year.
Zamfara State police spokesman, Superintendent Shehu Mohammed says the police tactical team was deployed to the affected area to ensure peace returns and added that the number of casualties would be made available to the general public immediately after investigations into the matter have been concluded. He further appealed to residents to go about their normal activities as the police are on top of the situation.
