Major General Farouk Yahaya the has been appointed the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) by President Mohammadu Buhari, Njenje Media News can authoritatively report.
In a tweet by the Personal Assistant to the President on New Media, Bashir Ahmed tweeted, “Major General Farouk Yahaya the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff (COAS)”
Prior to his appointment, Major General Yahaya was the General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and the incumbent Theatre Commander of the Counter Terrorism Counter Insurgency military outfit in the North East, code named Operation HADIN KAI.
This is coming against speculations that President Buhari will appoint Major Gen. Ben Ahanotu from Anambra State who is the most senior serving officer in the Nigerian Army.
