The British Prime Minister, Liz Truss has announced her resignation after 44 days in office following a month of political turmoil and mounting pressure on her premiership, NjenjeMediaNews reports.
The Chair of the 1922 Committee Sir Graham Brady said on Thursday that, it “will be possible to conduct a ballot and conclude a leadership election by Friday the 28th of October.”
In an emotional statement with her husband Hugh beside her, she said: “I recognise… given the situation I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party.”
