National leader of the NDC, Seriake Dickson, has announced that he and the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have resolved recent issues affecting the party following a high level meeting involving key stakeholders.

Dickson disclosed this in a statement on Thursday after hosting Obi and other senior party leaders for what he described as a closed door meeting that lasted nearly three hours.

According to him, the gathering provided an opportunity to assess the party’s activities and address concerns that had emerged in recent weeks.

“I just received my brother, colleague, and partner in the New Nigerian Project, His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi, CON, our presidential candidate, who, together with some distinguished leaders of our party, held a closed door meeting which lasted about three hours,” Dickson said.

He added that the discussions focused on party affairs and recent developments that had generated concerns among members.

“In the course of that meeting, we reviewed the activities of our party and discussed a few recent issues that have been a source of concern to all sides, and we amicably resolved all the issues,” he stated.

Dickson said both leaders remained united in their broader objective of securing electoral victory and providing an alternative to the current administration.

“We have always been on the same page on the bigger picture, that is, winning the elections for all candidates of our party and rescuing Nigeria from the misgovernance of the APC led government. However, a few issues have arisen, and we have agreed on how to handle them moving forward,” he said.

The former Bayelsa State governor also appealed to party members to avoid internal conflicts and remain focused on the party’s goals.

“I want to use this opportunity again to call on all members of our party to stop the bickering and name calling and focus on the bigger picture,” Dickson said.

He further assured members that consultations among party leaders would continue to strengthen unity and cohesion within the party.

“Both His Excellency Peter Obi and I, as well as other leaders and stakeholders of our party, will continue to consult and engage with one another to address and resolve concerns, strengthen the unity and cohesion of our party, and ensure that we remain focused on our shared mission of rescuing Nigeria and building a better future for all,” he added.

Dickson concluded his statement by wishing Nigerians a Happy Democracy Day.
