Youths in Uzo-Uwani, Enugu State, have openly rejected the House of Representatives ambition of Mathias Ezeaku, accusing him of making remarks considered offensive to both Christianity and Islam.

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) aspirant, who has previously drawn attention for burning a Bible and criticising religious leaders, is facing growing opposition from residents who say his conduct promotes intolerance and division.

Concerned youths in the area insisted that anyone seeking political office must uphold peace, unity, and mutual respect among different religious groups rather than fuel hostility.

Ezeaku, an indigene of Nrobo in Uzo-Uwani and a practitioner of African Traditional Religion, is seeking the NDC ticket to represent the Uzo-Uwani/Igbo-Etiti Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections.
