The Federal Government has reiterated that the Kaduna to Kano and Kano to Daura sections of the Kano to Maradi Railway Development Project will be completed and commissioned by December 2026.
The assurance was given by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Engr. Funsho Adebiyi, during an inspection visit by officials of the Debt Management Office led by its Director General, Patience Oniha.
Adebiyi said the overall railway project has reached between 70 and 75 percent completion, while work on the Kaduna to Zaria to Kano segment is between 80 and 85 percent complete and has entered the finishing stage.
He added that the project has generated more than 4,500 jobs, including about 200 expatriate positions, describing the rail line as a major infrastructure investment expected to improve transportation, boost regional trade, create economic opportunities and strengthen connectivity between communities in northern Nigeria and neighbouring Niger Republic.
