The Izu Anioma Towns Union, Abuja Chapter, has announced the maiden edition of the Anioma Cultural Festival (Anioma Day), scheduled to hold on November 8 at the Old Parade Ground, Area 10, Garki, Abuja.
This landmark event, which will now be celebrated biannually, aims to showcase the rich cultural heritage, history, and resilience of the Anioma people of Delta North Senatorial District, Delta State.
Speaking at a media briefing, the President of the Izu Anioma Towns Union, Chief Luke Enelichi, highlighted that the festival will feature an array of cultural displays from the Aniocha, Ndokwa, Ika, and Oshimili areas—reflecting the diversity and artistic excellence of the Anioma people.
According to him, visitors will experience traditional dances, crafts, and artistic performances, as well as the exhibition of the revered “Akwa Ocha” (white cloth)—the Anioma people’s traditional attire symbolising purity, honour, and hospitality.
Chief Enelichi also revealed that several distinguished Anioma sons and daughters will be honoured with awards of excellence and patriotism during the event. Among the recipients is Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, the representative of Anioma in the Senate and Patron of the Union.
The event will be graced by an impressive lineup of dignitaries, including the Governor of Delta State, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, the Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, and the former Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor (rtd.).
The Anioma Cultural Festival promises to be a grand celebration of unity, heritage, and pride for the Anioma people and their friends across Nigeria.
