Five injured in Kaduna truck crash, says FRSC

The Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed that five persons sustained injuries following a road traffic crash involving five vehicles at the popular PZ area of Zaria on Tuesday.
The Zaria Unit Commander of the FRSC, Mr Nasiru Falgore, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the incident.
Falgore said the crash involved a truck, a Honda Jazz, a Peugeot 407 and two tricycles, affecting a total of 15 persons.
“Out of the 15 persons involved in the crash, five sustained varying degrees of injuries, while 10 others were rescued unhurt,” he said.

According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the crash was caused by brake failure, excessive speed and loss of control by the truck driver, who rammed into the other vehicles in the busy commercial area.
He said the injured victims were promptly evacuated to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Shika, and Almadina Hospital, Sabon Gari, Zaria, for medical attention.
Falgore said a different crash had earlier occurred at Emanto Area,Zaria involving a wagon Volkswagen Golf and a motorcycle, with nine persons affected.
“Three persons were injured, one person died, while five others escaped unhurt,”he said.
Similarly, another crash at Marabar Gwanda along Kano to Zaria Expressway involved a saloon Volkswagen Golf and a tricycle, affecting six persons.
“Two persons sustained injuries, two others lost their lives, while two were rescued unharmed,” he said.
Falgore added that the case had been handed over to the Motor Traffic Department (MTD), Zaria, for further investigation.
The FRSC commander cautioned motorists, especially drivers of heavy-duty vehicles, to ensure proper vehicle maintenance and adhere strictly to speed limits, to avert needless loss of lives and property.
