Igbos Have Contributed Heavily To Lagos Economy, We Must Reject Tribalism — Illbliss

Nigerian rapper Illbliss has called for greater acceptance of non indigenes across the country, urging Nigerians to reject divisive comments directed at people living outside their states of origin.

Speaking on a recent episode of the Outside The Box podcast, the rapper cited the contributions of Igbo residents in Lagos as an example of how non indigenes have helped drive development and economic growth.

According to him, the Igbo community has played a major role in Lagos’ commercial and trading activities despite not being indigenous to the state.

Illbliss said it was disappointing that tribal and religious divisions continue to persist despite Nigeria’s long history as a united nation.

“The Igbos have given a lot to the Lagos economy in terms of trade and commerce. I wonder how this town will be if you told every Igbo man to leave. So, I’m always shocked whenever I hear comments like, ‘If you’re not from Lagos State, go back to your state.’

“We have no business being where we are as a country. We have no business not being accommodating of each other. But sadly, we are still plagued by tribalism, ethnic and religious divides,” Illbliss remarked.
